My Magnificent Dog
My Dog is golden rust like a weathered penny,
Protectant like a security system, his bark is my alarm.
Solid like a tank!
His coat is durable and course to withstand
conditions in the field, yet soft like a pillow.
My dog is strong like a bull.
Yet he is gentle like a whispering voice.
Part of him is being a pleaser like some people.
Part of him is stubborn as a mule.
His tail wagging is his smile to me
His face has scruff like a wire brush.
His training is work, yet rewarding to both of us in the end.
He resembles a versatile gundog with great character.
I will respect him and he will respect me.
With my command he shall obey
Let others stand and watch;
The hunting grounds belong to me and my dog.
I am here to hunt with you my prized bird dog!
